He took PhD in sociology with the topic on poverty in Croatia at Department of Sociology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb. He has been teaching about different social policy issues at undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD levels. Since 2010 he has been the editor in chief of Croatian Journal of Social Policy.
His published papers and books are on poverty, social assistance, social exclusion, reforms in social welfare, behaviour disorders, community sanctions, and marginality. He has participated in more research projects. Topics of recent research projects have been social supermarkets in Central and Eastern Europe, child poverty and household coping strategies, ESSPROS methodology.
In addition, he has been a member in more task forces preparing reforms in different social protection sectors.
